WHAT SABOTAGES SPIRITUAL FORMATION - PART THREE - SELF-AWARENESS

The term self-awareness is something I've heard quite a bit recently. It's most often used in leadership, coaching, management levels, however, it's equally important to recognize in our journey toward spiritual formation. At the end of the day - at the end of this journey, is it not love that is rewarded - having a heart of love - being a person of love (sincere love - being other centered - thinking about the other and how my words, choices - effect them) and if we are not self-aware - or Reading the Room - how much do we sin against another person and ultimately push them away rather than win them with love?

My Random Notes - 2 Types of Self-Awareness

Some see it as the ability to monitor their inner world. Others see it as the difference between how we see ourselves and how others see us.

1.  Internal represents how clearly we see our own values, passions, aspirations - and how they fit with our environment, reactions (including thoughts, feelings, behaviors, strengths and weakness) and the impact on others. Internal self-awareness is associated with higher job and relationship satisfaction, personal and social control and happiness. It is negatively related to anxiety, stress and depression.

2. External means how other people view us in terms of the same (above) factors. If you are award how others see you, you'll be more skilled at showing empathy and taking others perspectives. There will be self-control, self-discipline and self-awareness. You will probably not be a "people-pleaser."

What is Self-Awareness? It's the ability to recognize and understand your own thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It's a key part of emotional intelligence because knowing yourself and how you impact others will help you maintain strong relationships, build trust, improve communication.

It can be categorized into two types: internal self-awareness and external self-awareness.

Internal self-awareness refers to the ability to understand your own thoughts, feelings, and emotions, as well as how they impact your behaviour.

This type of self-awareness allows you to identify patterns and to better understand the motivations behind your actions.

On the other hand, external self-awareness refers to the ability to understand how your behaviour and emotions are perceived by others.

This type of self-awareness allows you to see the impact you may have on other people, and to take that into account in your interactions.
