Growing Plants for Healthy Skin

February 05, 2019

I have to say, that I have never been so excited to study the skin benefits in plants and what they can do to help keep our skin healthy, so I am going to do a few blog posts from my journal to share with you. In the meantime, we have been making a few little shifts around the farm. One being changing the focus in shifting the amount of food and botanicals we have grown in the past. We are going from growing 75% food growth to 75% botanicals (flower and herb focus) for TSF Botanicals. The other is making space to accommodate a flower and herb drying room. The team of women volunteers took to the task of re-organizing, re-structuring the former garden work storage room. It got cleaned up, new walls put up and Cassie took a WHOLE Sunday and painted the inside WHITE. We brought in a few vintage pieces to add the ‘homey’ feel, added an old trestle table in the middle so that the Flower Room could be a place where women could also gather, sip some tea and be inspired by various garden + flower books.

Currently, the team seeded Calendula, German Chamomile, Borage. We know those will grow, but I am having them try Meadow Foam, Arnica, Meadow Sweet and Yarrow.

I will post an image of the new Flower Room next time, but in case you want to see everything for your self, we are having a Brunch + Beauty Class at the farm on Friday morning October 26th. Here are the details.
