Yes. It's True. We are Closing Again . . .
. . .with this Thursday being our last FarmShop morning till sometime this fall. It's time for us to rest and regroup and re-evaluate all that The Simple Farm is, has done and is purposed to do in the future (fall).
Every summer, Michael and I bring out the annual White Board and begin to scribble away with thoughts, ideas, successes and failure and a huge list of things we need to think about. It's good for any business - especially - the growing food kind to evaluate and ponder and pray and consider purpose, energy levels and direction and values, etc.
What Else Will We Be Doing?
We will still be making and providing lots of our farm's sea salt caramels all around the shops in the valley and we are continuing to add more wonderful shops all around the US. We'd LOVE to have you recommend us to a shop you think the owners really should carry our caramels. This just happened this Thursday. One of our new farm friends and a new volunteer (Felice) from Chicago told her friend up in the Catskills about our caramels and her first box (wholesale) is on its way to Forestburgh General Store. Awesome!
We will be catching up on some farm projects - pruning fruit trees, giving TLC to new baby fruit trees, solarizing areas of the farm, prepping beds, looking at seeds and planning for fall planting. Michael will be extending the Farm to Table supper arbor to accommodate seating of 100. Just normal farm stuff.
Farm Help and Volunteers
All farms - need people who are willing to help and volunteer their time. Want to learn to garden? Volunteer and learn by doing. Want to give to your community? Volunteer and put a smile on the faces of those that work very hard. Want to lift a burden? Volunteer. Want to show you care and are supportive? Volunteer. Struggling with personal issues of grief? Volunteer.
Summers are brutal around here and many volunteers take time off. We're happy about that, but if YOU are around - would you consider volunteering at least two or three times this summer? Work starts in the cool of the morning. Email us at email@example.com and put VOLUNTEER in the subject line.
A few weeks ago, I posted a need for a Goat Team assistant and before I began to writeany details, we think our guy randomly surfaced. He's been here at the farm learning all about our goats and goat care. That said, it's always wonderful to have a few more to learn about how to care for these amazing animals.
